Hello dear Opponauts, I come to you today to ask for your invaluable advice on the following problem I have:

!!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! will need new front shocks for its airride system soon as the driver side currently leaks pressure (as they do) which often causes the car to act like its some kind of streetrod or half done lowrider. I learned a few days ago that pressurized air shocks are not allowed to be shipped by plane (for who knows what reason) which is why I need to find a shipping company that gives you the option of delivering parcels via container ship, without charging you an arm and a leg. Does any of our US based members know of a way to ship these parts to the UK privately? Motorcraft shocks are extremely hard to find which rules out most major car part suppliers, fortunately I’ve found a Mark VIII community member who is willing to sell a very decent set for a reasonable price, but he has no idea how to get them to me.

On a related note: I received many great comments back when I wrote my posts about the Lincoln and more recently the !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! , many offering a hand, should I ever have trouble with finding a part or need other help. I though it might be a good moment to ask whether some of you guys would be willing to help me with a few orders for both the Mark VIII and Aurora I will need to do soon. Its basically about merging/redirecting parcels from different places like Rockauto and Ebay, but also some of which would not ship outside of the US. Any help with this would be appreciated!

I hope I have more to post about the cars soon, having 3 fairly maintenance heavy cars to deal with at the same time surely slows done progress quite a bit.

Are there any suppliers on mainland europe that might be able to ship by truck if its too difficult from the US? I know theres a few countries with a bigger american car following than the UK does.

Possibly, unfortunately I happen to own cars that have next to zero parts support anywhere outside the states. And even there, OEM quality parts might be hard to come by if they are unique to fairly special models, as are the airride parts for the Mark VIII, or the fuel pump for my Aurora, to mention another example. Fun times :)

Yeah i suppose thats the side effect of having fairly unique cars (for this side of the pond at least). Ive got used to having super common european cars and hopping on eurocarparts for everything haha. Took me 10 minutes and £60 to get both front wings and an indicator for the bmw. Hopefully some of the american oppos help you out. Maybe repost this tomorrow if you dont get many replies, its a little quiet around here atm.

Contact DHL and ask for a Dangerous Goods rep. There may be an extra charge but I bet they can do it.

Unfortunately Arnott front shocks have a pretty bad rep in Mark VIII land. :(

Odd, I think I got my rear airbags from them a while ago (back then shipping was no issue), the front shocks are supposed to be trash though and leak only after a few years. That why I am planning to get Motorcraft shocks as they are supposed to be the best quality. If they last another 15-20 years I will be very happy with them.

Well, its a good entry into ultimate driving machine ownership. Some of BMWs best ever cars are so incredibly cheap right now that its hard to resist buying another one.

I’ve used Shipito to get stuff sent where they won’t ship internationally. You get a US address, get your purchases sent there and they will hold and forward them to you. You pay a small fee for processing. You pay the import duty to them so you don’t get stung by the courier when they arrive.

Edit, missed the bit about restricted items. Not suitable in this case.

The air springs aren’t pressurized if the solenoid is removed. The only issue with air shipping might be the nitrogen gas in the shock itself, but I’ve had complete coil overs air freighted to me from the UK without a problem.

Im not sure if they care whether the spring is pressurized or not. Coil overs are not them same unfortunately.
